Tongue-tie, or ankyloglossia, is a condition where the band of tissue connecting the tongue to the floor of the mouth is shorter than usual, potentially affecting feeding and speech.
Our specialists conduct a thorough assessment, including a physical examination and evaluation of feeding patterns, to determine the severity of the tongue-tie.
Treatment options include a simple procedure called frenotomy, which can be performed in-clinic or at home, ensuring comfort and safety for your baby.

Comprehensive Support & Holistic Wellness

We are committed to the highest standards of safety and care, ensuring every procedure is performed with precision, backed by years of expertise and full registration with the Association of Tongue Tie Practitioners, CQC, and NMC.

At OnCall 4 Tongue Ties, we use sterile scissors designed specifically for tongue-tie procedures, following strict Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) for maximum safety. Research supports scissors as a quick, effective method with minimal discomfort and faster recovery compared to other options. Evidence shows that anaesthetic is unnecessary for infants, as the procedure is brief, and using it may prolong distress without added benefit (NICE, 2020).

We avoid lasers due to the risk of thermal damage and longer healing times, as highlighted in studies comparing thermal and manual division techniques (Kummer, 2014). Our approach ensures precision, safety, and immediate feeding improvements for your baby.

When choosing a provider for your baby’s tongue-tie care, you want trusted expertise, a gentle approach, and clear, transparent pricing. At OnCall 4 Tongue Ties, we offer over 14 years of newborn & maternity experience, registration with the Association of Tongue Tie Practitioners, CQC, and NMC, and a commitment to your baby’s safety and comfort. Whether you prefer a home visit or an in-clinic appointment, our care includes a complimentary tongue-tie division if needed, all delivered with the highest standards of professionalism. With flexible booking options and expert support, you can trust us to make your baby’s feeding journey smoother.

Yes, Vitamin K is essential for blood clotting and safety during the tongue-tie division. If your baby has not received a Vitamin K dose at birth (IM) or a total of two oral doses before the appointment, we will not carry out the procedure. However, you will still be charged for the feeding assessment, tongue-tie evaluation, detailed report, and recommendations provided during the appointment

If your baby has been diagnosed with oral thrush or a conjunctivitis (eye infection), we follow evidence-based best practices, which recommend delaying the procedure until the infection is resolved. This reduces the risk of complications and ensures your baby’s safety and comfort. Please consult your GP for appropriate treatment before booking or attending your appointment.

If your baby is under the care of a specialist, such as a cardiac consultant, please inform them about the planned tongue-tie division and obtain their approval before booking. This ensures your baby’s safety and avoids any disappointment if the procedure cannot be carried out due to underlying health concerns.

The ideal time for a tongue-tie assessment is within the first 12 weeks of life, as early intervention improves infant feeding and recovery. Babies under 12 weeks are easier to manage due to softer oral tissues, and treatment at this stage is more effective (NICE, 2020). However, the decision and timing for a frenotomy should be individualised. Janet is trained using the Hazelbaker Assessment Tool for Lingual Frenulum Function (HATLFF). The tool is specifically designed to evaluate tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) in infants under six months of age, irrespective of their feeding method. Therefore, would only be able to assess babies and infants under the age of 6 months.
